Abstract:
"This book aims to clarify the link between geographic clustering and international competitiveness, a subject that is high on the agendas of researchers as well as policy-makers and strategic planners in light of the Turkish experience. Although the subject area has been flourishing - with new contributions from a variety of disciplines - they are either brief as regards the clusters of developing countries or do not tackle them at all. It is equally rare to see a detailed discussion of the relatively less competitive cases. Addressing these issues together, especially from the viewpoint of the management literature, is even less common. The study builds on these key contributions, and the main findings reached are discussed with respect to debates on clusters to provide a full account of what the Turkish experience, when looked from the viewpoint of strategic management, offers to further intellectual thinking on clusters."--BOOK JACKET.
