Choice Review
Since the appearance of S.M. Sze, VLSI Technology and D.G. Ong, Modern MOS Technology: Processes, Devices and Design (CH, Sep '84), there has been a growing need for a book containing both the emphasis on design considerations reflected in the periodical literature and an updating that reflects technological advances during the last decade in materials, processing equipment, and techniques. This new work meets both needs admirably. Chapters cover practical considerations, technology, device modeling, circuit simulation, basic IC building blocks, amplifiers, digital circuits and systems, design automation, and verification. Each chapter concludes with a summary, references to pertinent books and recent periodical literature, and design problems for student assignment. Where required, a few chapters conclude with specific appendixes of definitions and tabulated data. Highly recommended for technical libraries serving undergraduate and graduate electrical engineering students. -I. L. Kosow, emeritus, City University of New York
