Curtis and Russell offer an integrated approach regarding the study and importance of physical activity in our everyday lives. Seven scholars present their own unique contributions regarding physical activity from biological, sociological, psychological, economic, cultural, political, and environmental perspectives. The final section includes closing remarks about the progress and potential (as well as the problems) associated with studying physical activity from an integrated or "holistic" standpoint. More important, however, is the integration of each discipline into the global study and relevance of physical activity to daily living. Although the primary benefit of physical activity continues to be health and lifelong fitness, these scholars indicate that physical activity is also important to national health bills and government formulated health and social policies. This very easy-to-read book presents information in a nontechnical yet informative manner. A valuable addition to any library and a beneficial reference for scholars.
