Author Notes

Leslie Elliott Armijo received her doctorate from the University of California at Berkeley. She has published numerous articles on the interaction of democratization and economic liberalization in developing and transitional countries, including Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and India. Her work includes Political Finance in Brazil and India: an Argument about Democracy and Inflation. She is Visiting Scholar at the Mark O. Hatfield School of Government, Portland State University, Oregon.
